Self-Intro Speech Outline
“I am a strategist.”
Topic: what is your speech about?
My speech is about me who has a distinct personality as a strategist who likes to establish detailed plans.
Purpose: Why are you giving this speech?
-I chose this topic because I think being strategic and always planning is one of the most distinctive traits I have. I think this trait will best describe my personality. I want to show the audience my real personality outspokenly without lying.
Message: what do you want to say to the audience about this topic?
-I would like to tell the audience that I always plan things in advance. I am the person who always sticks to the plan when problems arise. I also like to plan alternatives. I had plans in the past, I have plans for today, I have plans for both near future and far future.
Organizational Method: Which organizational method did you use?
-Since I am not eloquent in both English and Korean I used visual graphics to aid my speech. I hope that this ppt slide pictures and photos speak on behalf of me as lawyers do. Also, I deploy the objects on past-present-future order, so that the audience can follow the plot and story line easily. Also, I made a script. By the help of the script, I believe that it will reduce my stage fright and stammering. Besides, it matches with my personality as an intricate planner which is a main topic of the speech.
Script (more detailed instructions and plans are hand-written in printed script)
2 slide
To describe my personality, I am going to use MBTI. We all had our MBTIs tested, right? Medically speaking, all homo sapiens can be classified into MBTIs. It turned out that my MBTI is......
3 slide
INTJ. so, I looked up INTJ personality bingos.
4 slide
(15 Mississippis)
I could agree to almost all the traits in the squares. I am eager to learn something new. I am definitely a perfectionist. I am very strict to myself. I am very honest, even naive, and outspoken. also, I tend to think logically.
5slide
What I really like about my MBTI is that I am a very strategic planner. I like to plan things and prepare for situations that is expected. I always think of second-best plan when my primary best plan goes kaput. I never improvise but always stick to the plan.
6slide
This personality made me a very lucky man. I think that a person gets lucky when preparation meets opportunity. I feel lucky that I am INTJ, and I feel lucky for the opportunities I had.
My personality definitely has negative features.... but!
7slide
overall, I felt very lucky that I am INTJ. I am the person who plans to "utilize" the opportunities.
8slide------second object
Second object I would like to share with you all is the fact that.
9slide
I studied airplane maintenance in junior college before. We all think airplanes are cool, right? The reason I like airplanes is that every single part of an airplane is precisely planned and designed for flight.
10slide
So, I learned about airplanes with passion, I was blessed with great opportunities. I even got a chance to take part in national airplane technician competition as a school representative. I feel very lucky to get access to such opportunities I had. so, in return, I utilized it as planned to make maximum luck available.
11slide
Finally, I would like to talk about
12slide
Yonsei University. we are all Yonsei students, right? This place is an intricately planned organization. What I found out in this place is that the place is the place of opportunity. The only thing you need to prepare is passion. You show them how passionate you are, you can learn whatever subject you have plans and passion in it. I felt very lucky for having both the opportunities and for having plans what to pursue. What I planned is that to utilize and exploit and take advantage of the opportunity. I planned to make myself qualified for graduating English major this year. after that, I planned to stay 1 more year in Yonsei and get a minor degree in mechanical engineering next year.
13slide
After that, I planned to work for aviation industry companies as an aircraft technician/engineer. When I get a job in aviation field, I planned to pick up where I left off. I planned to take what is called continuing education or adult education while being employed and get a final airplane maintenance license.
14slide
By learning both humanity/ liberal arts field and science/ engineering field, I believe that I will become a capable human resource who can deal with both humans and machines. Also, learning both engineering and technician skills, I believe that l will become a capable work force who is prepared for the opportunity to contribute to the society to which I belong.
I am very lucky that Yonsei allows me such great opportunity and I am going to utilize and take advantage of it as I planned because that's the person who I am.
15slide
Thank you.

Ah, you are reading from notes when you should have memorized your speech. You have a great voice - it is strong and shows confidence and conviction. You need to make more eye contact, use more gestures, and smile!! Reading from notes takes away from your delivery. Your stories are great but use better transitions to show the relevance to your message. Good use of repetition of keywords - planned and opportunity. Need to have a better hook that grabs our attention rather than explaining the message to us. MBTI was a great way to connect with the class. Effective use of slides /images to keep the audience's attention. The message was a bit confusing - you say you are a strategist but the stories seem to show you are a planner. For the next speech, deliver without reading a script; use more gestures, and smile. Practice so you finish within the allotted time. |
